Urja Department has chalked out plan to double farmers’ income – says Gujarat Energy Minister Mr. Saurabhbhai Patel

Today, launching the first part of the second phase of North-Gujarat region of ‘The Kisan Suryoday Yojana’ (KSY) from Bayad town in Aravalli district of Gujarat, Chief Minister Mr. Vijaybhai Rupani categorically stated that historically the KSY has become the largest scheme after the Jyotigram Yojana.

The Chief Minister said that the supply of electricity to the Dharti Putras (Farmers) during the day-time under the KSY will fulfill the objective of ‘Work during the Day, Rest during the Night’ of the scheme.

From today, the KSY will supply qualitative electricity to the farmers of 600 villages of North-Gujarat. Later, the KSY will be gradually extended to other 33 districts, along with regions of Saurashtra and South Gujarat too, of the state. The day-time 8-hours long availability of qualitative electricity will protect the farmers against the dangers of insects’ biting at night. Besides this, the KSY will also free the farmers from the previously prevalent hassle of interrupted power-supply.

The Chief Minister further stated that unlike the previous governments which just lay the foundation-stones for the schemes, but, were never got them materialized; while today we are keeping our promises. We lay the foundation-stone for the schemes only after making proper allocation of the fund in the State Budget.

Though the year-2020 was troublesome due to Covid-19 pandemic, yet, we have had continued upward surge of Gujarat’s growth story. Owing to thanks to efficiency and fore-vision of Prime Minister Mr. Narendrabhai Modi, we were enabled to firmly stand against this pandemic. The recovery rate from Corona virus has swelled and mortality rate has diminished. During the last five months, developmental projects worth of Rs. 22,000-Crore were launched to make holistic growth of Gujarat, Mr. Rupani added.

Addressing the farmers’ gathering, the Chief Minister said that the farm produces were purchased on “Supportive Prices” under the ‘Saat Pagla Programme’, to offer various benefits of several schemes to the farmers which will be helpful in doubling their income. We have the motto “If agriculture is prosperous then village will be prosperous, if village is prosperous then city and state will be prosperous.”

Now farmers get electricity connection “on demand.” Over 11.5 lakh electricity connections have been provided in Gujarat. Gujarat has witnessed a new “Sunrise” with recent launching of several schemes such as ‘Urja Park’ with a capacity of 30,000mw in Kutch, desalination plants in Mandvi, Girnar Ropeway, Kisan Suryoday Yojana, Asia’s largest hospital UN Mehta, AIIMS in Rajkot by Mr. Modi, Mr. Rupani added.

Speaking on the occasion, Gujarat Energy Minister Mr. Saurabhbhai Patel stated that the present government was making whole hearted efforts to raise the standard of living of farmers by reducing their expenses and increasing their income.

Others who spoke on the occasion included Mr. Ramanbhai Patkar – in-charge of Aravalli district and Minister of State for Forest and Tribal Development, Member of Parliament Mr. Dilipsinh Rathod, and Mr. Maheshsinh – MD, UGVCL.

The event was also attended by Ms Sunaina Tomar (IAS) – Principal Secretary (Energy Dept), Mr. Shamalbhai Patel – Chairman, Sabar Dairy, and others.
