The mercury in Valsad soared to 40 degrees Celsius on Monday and Tuesday also, breaking the previous day’s record of 36 degrees. The sudden rise in temperature, a whopping 4 degrees from Sunday, has left people reeling under the scorching heat.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had earlier predicted a maximum temperature of 34 degrees for Valsad on Monday and Tuesday. However, the actual temperature was significantly higher, as recorded by various sources.

Mobile weather applications showed the temperature reaching 40 degrees, while home barometers indicated a reading of 39 degrees. However, the IMD’s local weather station recorded a much lower temperature of 34 degrees.

The high temperature was accompanied by a drop in humidity levels to 73%, replacing the cool breeze with hot air in the afternoon, further intensifying the heat. This has led to a surge in the sale of watermelons and cold drinks, as people seek respite from the scorching heat.
